Wow! The year sure is flying by! 2010 has been a busy year so far for the Kaps Team. We've made over 980 items so far, the majority donated to the babies at Southwest General Hospital.
There are new photos added to our photo album, hopefully they uploaded correctly. We had some computer issues in April that required getting a whole new machine and some of the March pictures got lost.
But stop on by the album and take a peek at some of the awesome items made by our talented members. Kaps 4 Karing wouldn't be successful without them!

Happy New Year to all! I hope that everyone reading this had a pleasant and blessed holiday season.
We had a busy year and the Kaps Team did a fabulous job for the babies and the patients at CTRC. We made and donated 2,248 items, the bulk of that going to Southwest General. A big THANK YOU to all of our team members whose hard work and dedication made a BIG difference to someone.
We ended 2009 with a blanket contest for Southwest General, and the contest ended on January 10. Blankets are pouring in from across the country...stay tuned to our final number.
We have great expectations for 2010 and we invite you to be a part of an awesome bunch of talented and dedicated ladies. Come back often as we get more info posted and lots more pictures up for you to see!
Have a blessed and prosperous 2010!

Well, it's fall, the summer is over for the year. It was a quiet, but very busy summer for our team. In September we topped the 10,000 mark! From the last quarter of 2005 to September 2009, Kaps 4 Karing has made and donated a grand total of 10,080 items! Most of those items were donated to the babies at Southwest General. I am so proud of my team! We are on our way to 25K!
I have tons of pictures to post, so come back often as I get those uploaded. My laptop is on it's last legs, so it is slow going getting everything posted.
We had a blanket contest over the summer, with all the blankets going to the babies at Southwest General. We made and collected 110 blankets--another faboo team effort!
We participated in my church's Ministry Fair at the beginning of October, and we met a lot of nice folks, and had a few new faces at the October meeting. There's plenty of room at our monthly meetings, so you are always welcome to visit. Come see us!
Stay tuned for more news and lots more pictures as we get ready to close out 2009 and we look forward to a prosperous 2010!

We've had a quiet summer so far, but we are 1/3 of the way to our yearly goal! My team rocks!
We had a great response to our Lenten Challenge this year--our focus was the chemotherapy patients at CTRC. We donated over 100 hats, over a dozen lap blankets and several wraps for the ladies. It took two of our volunteers, two trips each to bring everything into the building. A superb job by all of our members. Next year we will focus on the babies at Southwest General, alternating between the CTRC and SWG each succeeding year.
Keep your eyes out for more pictures--there will be more photo uploads soon. I am very proud of our members and want to share their creations with everyone. So come back often to see all the new pictures.
And remember, we are always available for special requests. If you know someone who is going through chemotherapy, we would be honored to make and send them something. Just drop me a line with their mailing info (and any color preferences if you like)--my email addy is naoverland (at) yahoo (dot) com. And please know that all information is kept strictly confidential and will ONLY be used to mail items to the recipients. We will NEVER EVER pester folks with unwanted junk mail--and the items are always sent free of charge.

We are still here and still going strong! We had a record number of items donated in 2008, 3,410 made and donated! Of this number, 80% were given to the babies at Southwest General Hospital--our ladies are a fantastic, hard working bunch! We have high hopes that 2009 will be just as productive.
We are currently in the middle of our "40 in 40" Lenten Challenge. This year, our focus is on the chemo patients at CTRC, and we are making hats, lap blankets and prayer shawls for them.

It's been a busy summer for the group, and we are getting ready to celebrate our 1st anniversary for the ministry group. It's hard to believe that it's been a year already.
We are at 92% of our goal for 2008, with over 2,100 items made and donated. It may be time to increase our goal for next year.
Our donation to SW General was VERY well received--the nurses loved everything we brought! It took two trips (using a hand cart) to get all the items out of the truck and into the hospital. There were two nurses at the station when we arrived, and when we made the second trip in, there were at least 15 ladies, admiring all of the items and distributing everything to the different sections. And with cooler temperatures right around the corner, we are gearing up, making as many blankets as we can to keep tiny baby toes and fingers toasty warm!
The ministry group has grown by leaps and bounds. When we started we had 5 members and now we have 16! Go team! We have high hopes for the next year, and we are looking forward to helping as many people as we possibly can.
Check back soon as I gather the pictures from the last few group meetings and get them posted. Our team members make some beautiful items and I can't wait to share them with everyone!

We are still here--making great strides in helping others! April was our best month ever!!! We collected over *500*, yes, five hundred, items! A big thank you to Pastor Dan Mueller, who was our inspiration to make and donate this many items. Of this, 490 items went to Southwest General hospital and the balance went to the CTRC. Our team members are the best bunch of ladies!
The nurses at Southwest General were very excited to see us and were very thrilled at what we donated. They couldn't thank us enough and assured us that there would be many babies and families that would benefit from our items.
We have been invited to participate again this year in Project Edgewood, which provides food, clothes, toys and baby items to the underpriviledged that live in the areas surrounding Southwest General. Our team has begun making gorgeous baby items to be included in their Christmas celebrations.
We also were asked to help the babies of Cuidad Acuna, Mexico, through a sister church missionary program, operated by Pastor Martin. We are thrilled and honored to spread the word of Kaps 4 Karing and the love and caring that goes into our items.
Stay tuned for more exciting news!

Our first contest for 2008 is over and we collected an impressive 157 caps and 9 lapghans (I miscounted before) for the patients at CTRC. My Krew did a great job!
2008 looks like it will be another great year! Go Team K4K!

Congratulations to our 2007 Member of the Year, Judy Lewis! Thank you so much for all of your hard work and dedication--we appreciate everything that you do! Also, kudos to our 2007 Honorary Member of the Year, Anna Overland. We wouldn't be where we are now without her, and all of the Krew's support.
I am honored and thrilled to announce that our Shepherd Ministry group, in the four months we were together in 2007, made and donated a VERY impressive 1,009 items! A sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of my ladies--I am so excited to be a part of this group! I can't wait to see where we will be at the end of 2008.
We are almost finished with our first contest for 2008, and have so far collected over 100 hats and 10 lapghans for the patients at the Cancer Therapy and Research Center. Another great example of the power of one!
Also, according to the nurses at Southwest General Hospital, Kaps 4 Karing and the Shepherd Ministry group are THE major contributors of baby items to the NICU and nursery. We are thrilled to be able to show love and support to the critically ill babies and their families. And we look forward to providing many more items during 2008.

We are thrilled to announce that as of today, we have surpassed 2,000 items donated. 2007, by far, is our best year EVER! Our ministry group at Shepherd of the Hills has had three meetings and collected a total of 500 items--kudos to a great bunch of ladies!
On the financial front, we have received our EIN number from the IRS and were able to set up a bank account so that we can deposit donations. Hopefully after the first of the year, we will have enough funds collected so that we can obtain full 501(c)(3) tax exempt status.
After talking with the folks at the Cancer Therapy and Research Center here in San Antonio, we are planning another contest/challenge to make adult size caps for the patients. With the colder temperatures, and a larger influx of patients, the need for hats is now even greater than it was before. We are also getting ready to announce the K4K Member of the Year, which is always exciting around here.

Kaps 4 Karing is pleased and thrilled to announce that we have opened our first branch group and are now working in conjunction with the awesome ladies of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
These wonderful ladies are excited to be a part of K4K, making chemo caps and baby items. Keep your fingers crossed for us as we embark on this newest adventure!
We are also pleased to announce that in addition to providing baby items to University Hospital, we are now donating to Southwest General Hospital. They are a small community hospital on the deep southwest side of San Antonio, and they are often forgotten by folks. So we will be warming the hearts and lives of the babies and children at Southwest, as well as University.

We have received our first Kap Request from the new website! Kaps are already on their way to the recipient. We will be keeping her and her family in our hearts and prayers.
The Kaps Krew has already exceeded their donation goals for 2007. We originally set a modest goal of 350 items--as of July 10 we are over 1,200 items donated!! My Kaps Krew is the best bunch of ladies!
